Music, Mentorship & Opportunity Since 1998
Anthropos Arts is a nonprofit organization founded in 1998 whose mission is to connect low-income youth with professional musicians, cultivating confidence, integrity, and life-skills through musical instruction and mentorship.
Working with middle and high school students across Austin, Anthropos Arts pairs students with professional musicians for free lessons in a wide range of world music genres — from jazz and Latin to East and West African, Indian classical, Arabic, ska, hip hop, and beyond. Mentors support students not just musically, but in academics, decision-making, goal-setting, teamwork, college selection, financial aid, and professional auditions.
Students perform at Austin's iconic stages — SXSW, ACL Festival, Stubb's, ACL Live Moody Theater, Austin Music Hall, and more. Every year, Grammy-winning and world-renowned artists lead large-scale master classes and workshops that reach 1,000 or more students at a time.
